Witness statements served
Five witness statements were served by the defendants in support of the defence of justification. They include Lipstadt’s own first-person statement on her work, her sources and her account of Irving as a Holocaust denier. The five witnesses weren’t called to give oral evidence, so Lipstadt’s statement wasn’t tested under cross-examination. Irving made this point in his closing.
